As part of a promotional campaign for Korean culture organized by the Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Korean Cultural Center in Paris is organizing the exhibition of works by SUBINSON, Yonsoo Kang, Youngchan Ko, three artists selected following a call for candidacy. The latter is part of a campaign with the objective of establishing a bridge which, in the future, would allow Korean artists to enter the French and European art scene by providing the opportunity to a selection of young artists. active in France, to exhibit their works but also through the provision of catalogs and the publication of audiovisual media. As sanitary conditions linked to the COVID-19 epidemic prevent the public from physically entering the exhibition halls, the “Korea & Art Online” exhibition will take place on the website of the Cultural Center.

«Gap»

Exposition en ligne de SUBINSON

"Korea & Art Online" consists of three parts. SUBINSON, the first of the three artists considers the gap that exists between beings in his series of works "Gap". In the instability created by a constantly changing society, the artist introduces us to new perspectives through objects that are familiar to us. There is therefore a rebirth of everyday objects outside of their usual usefulness. With the "Gap" series which sometimes reveals spaces hidden in objects and sometimes creates new ones, the works encourage us to reflect on the gap between space and the moment.

« à bâtons rompus »

Exposition en ligne de Yonsoo Kang

The second exhibition presented by artist Yonsoo Kang is called "à batons rompus". This is a series of sketches inspired by the specificities of charcoal, a material that gives an impression of movement that is peculiar to it. The expression "Talking with broken sticks" which combines the words stick and broken evokes the forms that we can find in these works. The artist thus presents us with a magnificent and very diverse palette of the expression of the dynamic and indeterminate movement of charcoal in its quality, density, weight and speed.

«Paysages dépaysés»

Exposition en ligne de Youngchan Ko

In the third and last exhibition “Paysages expatriés”, Youngchan Ko talks to us about places and memories. The work consists of very personal video captures of memories, events and forgotten landscapes of the places to which the artist himself has visited. We can therefore meet the stories of people living in villages near abandoned mines or even journeys such as the construction of a mountain of salt on top of a mountain. These videos which find their origin in reality translate a vision which seeks to go beyond the truth, somewhere between memories and events, lie and truth.
